Andy Brereton, currently a development executive at talkbackThames, is to join the 91Èȱ¬'s In-house Entertainment department as executive producer, comedy entertainment development, Katie Taylor, Head of 91Èȱ¬ Entertainment & Events, announced today.
Having started his career in the industry as a 91Èȱ¬ trainee within the Light Entertainment department, Andrew joined talkbackThames in 2005 where he either developed, devised and/or series-produced various entertainment formats including The King Is Dead for 91Èȱ¬ Three and Take Me Out for ITV.
Prior to this he worked as a development producer, an executive producer and a producer director at 12 Yard working on many entertainment shows including In It To Win It (91Èȱ¬ One), Coach Trip Series 1 and 2 (Channel 4) and Eggheads (91Èȱ¬ Two) to name but a few.
Andy will be working closely with Sarah Edwards, Head of Format Development, with a particular focus on new comedy entertainment formats – an area 91Èȱ¬ in-house entertainment is looking to grow.
Katie Taylor said: "I am thrilled that Andrew will be bringing his skills at working with comic talent and formatting gripping comedy entertainment ideas for 91Èȱ¬ in-house."
Andy said: "I've enjoyed working at talkbackThames with some of the most talented programme makers in the industry, but it feels great to be returning to the 91Èȱ¬ who gave me my first ever job in television. I cannot wait to get started in creating some new, distinct and exciting comedy entertainment formats for the 91Èȱ¬."
Andrew joins on 7 June.
