Online resource tracking the Election issues that matter to voters on
As the 2010 General Election campaign gets underway the 91Èȱ¬ Radio 5 Live website – bbc.co.uk/5live, will feature the 5 Live Election Story – the essential source of key interviews and listener comment from across a range of platforms offering one central portal to track which issues are shaping the campaign.
The 5Â Live Election Story is an interactive application that highlights audio played out on the 5 Live network during the course of the campaign concerning the central issues of the election.
Users of the site will be able to review this content by date or issue with the help of a timeline, issue pagesÌý²¹²Ô»å a word cloud.Â
The 5 Live Election Story also pulls in conversation with the audience via Twitter, Facebook, blogs and texts, so that on any one given day the user will be able to see how much chat and discussion there has been about a particular issue on 5 Live. The size of the word in the cloud denotes how much discussion there has been on that day about any issue.
Users will be able to view live video streams of the party leaders during the 5 Live breakfast phone-in with Nicky CampbellÌý²¹²Ô»å Shelagh Fogarty (weekdays from 9.00am) when they will be taking listener questions on-air. Plus there'll be some unique content from 5 Live's Political correspondent, John Pienaar, as he delivers his "political peanuts" during the election campaign. Â
Built by Manchester-based web design agency magneticNorth, the site will be live from 6 April to capture the first day's interviews and comment and will run throughout the General Election campaign. Â
Radio 5 Live Interactive Editor, Brett Spencer, said; "This is the only audio tool that will allow you to track the election campaign by topic throughout the month. It will provide an easy to navigate audio guide through the major political issues in the run-up to the General Election."
