In the wake of President Obama's new strategy on Afghanistan – and further troop deployments by the US and the UK – 91Èȱ¬ One's Question Time will be debating from Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire on 10 December 2009.
The panel includes: General Sir Richard Dannatt, the former head of the British army; the Armed Forces Minister, Bill Rammell; the shadow Foreign Secretary, William Hague; and the broadcaster and former Mirror editor, Piers Morgan. David Dimbleby hosts the programme which transmits on 91Èȱ¬ One at 10.35pm.
In November, the 100th funeral cortege passed through the town centre.
Question Time editor, Ed Havard, said: "Wootton Bassett has come to symbolise the nation's respect for fallen servicemen and we have already had a huge number of people apply to take part in this programme and to debate the issues with leading figures such as Richard Dannatt, Bill Rammell and William Hague."
91Èȱ¬ Radio 1 will be joining up with Question Time in Wootton Bassett and will present an outside broadcast from the town the day after the debate.
