91Èȱ¬ One Daytime's critically acclaimed drama Missing, starring Pauline Quirke, as the head of a busy Missing Persons Unit, returns for an extended run in 2010 and is now in production.
Liam Keelan, Controller of 91Èȱ¬ Daytime, has commissioned 10 new episodes, doubling the run of the first series.
Mark Wingett returns as Radio DJ Danny Hayworth, Felix Scott as DC Jason Doyle, and Pooja Shah as Amy Garnett, alongside Pauline Quirke as DS Mary Jane 'MJ' Croft.
Joining this new extended series as guest stars are Roy Hudd (Coronation Street), Paul Nicholas (Just Good Friends), Brooke Kinsella (EastEnders), Gary Lucy (Hollyoaks), and Sylvia Syms (At 91Èȱ¬ With The Braithwaites).
Liam Keelan says: "We have seen how successful combining drama and factual programming has been in 91Èȱ¬ Daytime – extending the run of Missing will create an even greater sense of event."
Series one saw MJ reunited with her wayward sister Ellen (Helen Baker), after believing for many years that she had died in a fire in a hostel. One year on, and the sisters' reconciliation is still slightly strained but there are more surprises for MJ as her estranged father (Roy Hudd) comes back into her life. But will his return be welcomed by both sisters and is he really the reformed character he claims to be?
Danny Hayworth has now established himself in his new career as a radio DJ and his missing persons feature is one of the station's most popular programmes. Amy Garnett, meanwhile, struggles when Jason Doyle – who has matured into a key part of the MPU team and has been selected by MJ to take his sergeant's exams – suddenly ends their office love affair.
Missing has been shortlisted for a Mental Health Media Award for its portrayal of mental distress in TV drama for the opening episode of series one.
The new series of Missing (10 x 45-minutes) is currently filming in the south east of England and on location in Dover.
Missing is produced by Julie Press, Gerard Melling is the 91Èȱ¬ executive producer and James Burstall is the executive producer for Sea Leopard.
Missing is a Sea Leopard production for the 91Èȱ¬.
