91Èȱ¬ Northern Ireland is back with another series of Northern Exposure and this year celebrity couple Gary Lineker and Danielle Bux take to the roads for a trip with a difference.
Following last year's series where Laurence and Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen toured the country, this new six-part series of Gary And Danielle's Northern Exposure sees the couple travel to each county in Northern Ireland visiting areas suggested by members of the public and production team.
The series filmed over the past few months sees Gary at the wheel of a vintage red Volkswagen convertible which luckily didn't break down once.
With Danielle navigating, the couple sampled some of the hidden gems on offer encouraging viewers to rediscover, and perhaps discover, parts of Northern Ireland.
During their journey the couple took a trip on a pirate boat in Co Antrim; had a go at hovercraft racing in Co Londonderry; experimented with their creativity with some screen printing in Co Down; took to the water for a spot of water-skiing in Co Armagh; went husky trekking in Co Tyrone and found out how to make ice-cream in Co Fermanagh.
The series, which begins on Friday 24 July 2009 on 91Èȱ¬ One Northern Ireland, sees the couple starting off in Co Antrim where they spent some time in Portrush before heading off towards Randalstown, Antrim, Lisburn and Belfast.
At Whiterocks beach in Portrush Gary Lineker was surprised with a surfing task and, with temperatures typical for Northern Ireland, he was dreading it! However, once in the water he loved it and his competitive sporting nature took over as he wanted to master the art of standing up on the board.
Gary Lineker said: "We have had such an adventure over the past couple of months and the people of Northern Ireland have been so welcoming towards us.
"Who knew that Northern Ireland had so much to offer and it was great to be surprised with new locations and experiences everyday.
"I have found myself doing things that I never imagined I would, like rolling down a hill in a giant bubble and trekking with huskies."
Danielle Bux said: "I've had great fun filming the series over the past couple of months although I have to say my personal favourite was in Co Down when we had the opportunity to try out some Western style horse-riding.
"I thought Northern Ireland's countryside was really beautiful and will definitely be back in the future."
Simon Miller, series producer says: "We've all had a great time uncovering more hidden gems in Northern Ireland this summer and hopefully we'll be giving the public some inspiration to go out and follow in Gary and Danielle's footsteps by doing something different this summer.
"A more reliable car and some unusually good weather meant Gary and Danielle really saw Northern Ireland at its best this year, and I've no doubt they'll be back soon as tourists to revisit some of their favourites!
"We've worked hard to improve the Northern Exposure website this year – with behind-the-scenes footage and full details on all Gary and Danielle's favourites, it's a great place to start if you're looking for something to do this weekend."
At the end of each episode Gary and Danielle will choose their top three activities in that county.
