The Radio Cumbria health, wealth and happiness tour

With the current strain on everyone's finances and the consequences it has on other aspects of our lives, 91Èȱ¬ Radio Cumbria will be lending a hand to help people improve their health, wealth and happiness this year

On Saturday 20 June 2009 visitors can come to Whitehaven Civic Hall for financial advice, health checks, massage therapies, ballroom dancing tasters, make-up advice, gardening tips, and healthy eating cookery demonstrations from Cumbrian chef, John Crouch.

Organisations present will include the Citizens Advice Bureau, Cumbria Trading Standards, NHS nurses and Digital UK.

Radio Cumbria's Managing Editor, Nigel Dyson, says: "The first event in Carlisle in April was a huge success. Hundreds came along and people said they found it useful, informative and entertaining. Staff on the NHS stands said they were 'mobbed' and they referred more than 40 people to other NHS services as a result of the medical checks they were offering that day.

"The stands offering advice on good colours to wear and free massages were also very popular. We're very grateful to all the local organisations that have come on board to make these events so successful."

The free event will run from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Visitors will also be able to find out more about the work of Radio Cumbria and meet some of the station's presenters.

This is the second of three roadshows that Radio Cumbria is staging around the county this year. The third and final event will be in Barrow later this year.
