Regional radio legend Nick Girdler will be back behind a microphone later this month for a brand new Sunday morning show with 91Èȱ¬ Radio Solent.
From Sunday 14 June, Nick will be bringing listeners a taste of all that's great and good across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, wrapped up in his own unique style of broadcasting.
The new programme will include "The Girdler Gauge", where Nick goes in search of the best of the South – with listeners' favourite views, eateries, and places to visit.
There'll be a chance to honour a workplace hero with the weekly "GirdlerGram" and, even though it's Sunday, Nick will still be testing the old grey matter with topical discussion and the odd brainteaser.
Nick broadcast on Radio Solent for 35 years before formally hanging up his headphones. But, three years on, he is now relishing his return.
"Broadcasting never leaves your blood, especially after all the time I've spent doing it." he said.
"I know and love the Solent patch and the station's army of loyal listeners. I can't wait to get back on the air."
Radio Solent Managing Editor Chris Carnegy said: "When this key slot became available, I wanted someone who'd put a smile on our faces, be proudly local and often thought-provoking.
"Well, that's Nick Girdler. He knows and loves Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, he's constantly creative, and he's not shy when it comes to questioning the powers that be. It'll be great to welcome him back to his spiritual home."
The show will run from 9.00am to 12noon, starting on 14 June 2009, after the last edition in Mike Osman's current series.
