From June 2009, digital radio station 91Èȱ¬ 6 Music welcomes new presenter Cerys Matthews to the station. Singer/Songwriter Cerys will present the daily lunchtime show (1.00-4.00pm), taking over from Nemone who goes on maternity leave.
Cerys, who has previously deputised on the station and currently presents A Month Of Sundays – where she plays the music she loves – is excited to become a permanent member of 6 Music team.
She said: "It's been 20 years since I first started in music, and these last few months hosting shows for 6 Music have been as exciting as ever.
"I get to play lost gems from my record collection as well as choose new music and, on top of that, there's live music in The Hub and weird and wonderful guests to meet.
"Seeing the responses streaming back in via text and email from the listeners is simply addictive and to have this experience on a daily basis will be an absolute pleasure."
Bob Shennan, Controller, Radio 2 and 6 Music, said: "Cerys' amazing passion for music delivered in a charmingly engaging way is a welcome addition to 6 Music and will provide the perfect lunchtime cover whilst Nemone is away."
Cerys is in good company with her fellow 6 Music DJs, some of whom have similar musical experience as lead singer of a successful band.
Cerys, who sang with Catatonia, will share the airwaves with the likes of Guy Garvey (lead singer of Elbow, Sundays, 10.00pm-12midnight), Bruce Dickinson (lead singer of Iron Maiden, Fridays, 9.00pm-12midnight) and Huey Morgan (lead singer of Fun Lovin' Criminals, Sundays 2.00-3.30pm).
91Èȱ¬ 6 Music is a digital radio station available on DAB digital radio, digital TV and online at bbc.co.uk/6music.
