91Èȱ¬ National Lottery shows move to the Nations

Mark Linsey, 91Èȱ¬ Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, has announced that production of the 91Èȱ¬ National Lottery show formats will shift to Scotland and Northern Ireland as part of the 91Èȱ¬'s Network Supply strategy.

The 91Èȱ¬ has four National Lottery show formats which run for eight weeks each during the course of the year.

Currently these are 1 Vs 100, an Endemol production presented by Ben Shephard; In It To Win It presented by Dale Winton; and Who Dares Wins presented by Nick Knowles – both of which are produced by 12 Yard Productions – and a new format based around the Olympics.

Mark Linsey says: "Consolidating production of our National Lottery shows allows us to consistently utilise the wealth of experience and state of the art facilities at our Pacific Quay site, whilst tapping in to all the independent creative talent from across Scotland and Northern Ireland."

Production of the National Lottery shows will be overseen by Alan Tyler, in his new role of Executive Editor, Entertainment Commissioning.

Alan Tyler says: "This is a real and significant commitment to entertainment production outside of London and will play a key part in building the sector with both independent and in-house producers."

The National Lottery programmes can be made either by 91Èȱ¬ in-house production or by independent productions companies in those Nations.

Anne Morrison, Controller of Network Production, says: "The move of the Lottery shows is part of our exciting plans to build entertainment production in Scotland and Northern Ireland. By making more programmes outside London we are boosting the creative industries in those areas and ultimately benefitting all our audiences across the UK."

Some shows are already produced from 91Èȱ¬ Scotland's new headquarters at Pacific Quay, for example, 1 Vs 100, which is currently on air.

Pacific Quay in Glasgow is the first high definition facility of its kind in Europe; the main television studio is also the largest studio space and only high definition facility outside London.
