Radio Bristol Introducing to return in April

91Èȱ¬ Radio Bristol Introducing, presented by Gary Smith and Richard Pitt, is to return next month.

The programme, which showcases new music by local bands, will be broadcast weekly from Saturday 5 April.

Radio Bristol Managing Editor, Tim Pemberton, says: "We are really pleased with the return of Radio Bristol Introducing.

"We needed to clarify the basis on which it was broadcast, but it has always been a programme that we are proud of, as it underlines the commitment that the station has shown to new music and emerging artists from Bristol and the wider West Country area.

"I am sure that having had a brief pause it will return with new vigour and enjoy an even wider audience."

Gary Smith says: "We're looking forward to doing the show again and continuing to be a part of the 91Èȱ¬'s commitment to the local music scene and new music generally."

Richard Pitt adds: "It was a shame that we had to be off for a while, but we understand that the 91Èȱ¬ takes its programmes and responsibility seriously. I'm just looking forward to getting back to playing some great music and featuring artists who are unlikely to be given a chance anywhere else."

The first programme of Radio Bristol Introducing will be broadcast on Saturday 5 April 2009 at 1.00am (Friday night/Saturday morning).

The show's length is to be confirmed, but it is likely to run at the longer duration of three hours and will be repeated on the following night.

It will also be available on 91Èȱ¬ iPlayer, where it has many devoted followers.
