Your country doesn't need you! Charlotte's Eurovision dream is over

Charlotte

Charlotte's Eurovision dream is over as she becomes the second person to be eliminated from 91Èȱ¬ One's Eurovision: Your Country Needs You.

After a public vote Charlotte and Emperors of Soul were the least popular hopefuls and Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save Emperors of Soul. So Charlotte is the second person to leave the competition.

In Saturday's live show, all five hopefuls performed Eurovision classic Save Your Kisses For Me, as well as solo renditions of contemporary songs chosen to show viewers that they have the nerve, skill, sheer determination and star quality to represent the UK in Moscow.

After performing their songs and receiving feedback from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lulu, and singer Duncan James the hopefuls faced a nervous wait as the public cast their vote.

Award-winning lyricist Diane Warren also spoke about her first week working with Andrew on the UK entry. As votes were counted, the Eurovision wannabes were split into two groups of male and female and both performed a group number written by Diane Warren.

It was their last chance to shine, before host Graham Norton revealed the two that have the least amount of public votes and go into the "danger zone". All-girl band, The Saturdays, performed their new single Up.

Charlotte and Emperors of Soul gained the least amount of votes. Then it was up to Andrew Lloyd Webber alone to choose who should be saved for another week.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: "What I really believe is that you'd find it very difficult when we got to that tough city called Moscow. It will be a zoo there, it really will, and I think you'd find it really tough. But what I do promise is if you come back in a year's time I will see you again and I think you will have a really serious career. You need now to get all the experience you can get. Go for it Charlotte."

Charlotte said: "I'm a bit upset but it's been an amazing experience and I've met so many amazing people. It's been a journey for me and I've learnt so much and I think I'm a better performer because of it. I am young, so hopefully this is just the start for me."

Safe for another week were Emperors of Soul, Mark, Francine and Nicola and Jade.

The remaining hopefuls go on to next week's penultimate show where they will again perform for the nation who will decide who will pick up the baton for the country in the Eurovision extravaganza being held in Moscow in May.
