Further acts announced for this year's 91Èȱ¬ Electric Proms

The 91Èȱ¬ today announces more of the line up for this year's 91Èȱ¬ Electric Proms.

Ìý

As part of the festival – which is dedicated to new moments in music – KOKO will host the return of Africa Express, which sees artists from Africa and the West perform together in unrehearsed collaborations.

Ìý

Previously, the group has staged shows at Brixton, Glastonbury and Liverpool, and taken Western artists to Mali and the Congo.

Ìý

Line-ups are never announced in advance, but earlier events have featured Franz Ferdinand, Baaba Maal, Reverend & The Makers, Damon Albarn, Amadou and Mariam, Hard-Fi and Tony Allen.

Ìý

The show will take place on Wednesday 22 October 2008.

Ìý

The Electric Proms will also be celebrating the legacy of the 91Èȱ¬ Radiophonic Workshop at the FreeDM Studio on Saturday 25 October with an evening dedicated to the pioneers of UK electronica.

Ìý

Some very special guests will form a music panel to discuss the methods and legacy of the Workshop's creativity.

Ìý

This will be followed by electronic music pioneers in their own right, Coldcut, performing a live DJ set incorporating samples and instruments from the Workshop.

Ìý

Taking place in two cities for the first time in the event's three year history, both London and Liverpool will host the festival from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 October 2008.

Ìý

Over 60 acts will perform at the event, which is bigger than ever before.

Ìý

All of the performances from the Electric Proms can be accessed either at the venues, watching and listening to the 91Èȱ¬, or by interacting with red button technology and on mobile.
