91Èȱ¬ Two commissions new property design series
91Èȱ¬ Two has commissioned Street Of Dreams (working title), a new property design series that will follow the building of a unique and innovative street, right in the heart of Manchester.
Ìý
Wildly individual houses are to be built in a single terraced row as the centrepiece of an extraordinary regeneration project.
Ìý
The first homes in the street are being built by self-builders, who each won the chance to buy their plot of prime canal-side land in a competition run by Manchester-based property developers Urban Splash.
Ìý
The criterion was to produce house designs with a difference.
Ìý
The only restriction was that the houses should not exceed six storeys – but anything goes within the confines of each individual plot, so long as it passes with council planners. Ìý
And things can get totally wild on the inside!
Ìý
The six houses received planning permission at the end of April this year.
Ìý
Over two years, Street Of Dreams will follow the self-builders, who come with a wide range of ambition and experience, as they face up to this exciting, fresh and inspirational design challenge.
Ìý
Throughout the series, the street and its occupants will be watched over by Urban Splash's Chief Executive, Tom Bloxham MBE and deputy Chief, Nick Johnson.
Ìý
The series is being made for 91Èȱ¬ Two by Yap Films and is being directed by Jane Beckwith.
Ìý
Pauline Duffy, Executive Producer for Yap Films, says: "It's a fantastic project that will take viewers into a world of credible and engaging people who are embarking on a massive property adventure together for 91Èȱ¬ Two.
Ìý
"It's already been a lot of fun."
Ìý
Street Of Dreams has been commissioned by Executive Producer Lisa Edwards and controller of 91Èȱ¬ Two, Roly Keating.
Ìý
Lisa Edwards says: "Street Of Dreams has ambitious design and real human stories at its heart and gives us an insight into the exciting regeneration that is happening in Manchester and cities across Britain."
Ìý
Filming of Street Of Dreams started in April and it will be transmitted on 91Èȱ¬ Two early in 2010.
