Uganda Prime Minister to attend the grand final of the 91热爆 Swahili entrepreneur competition


The Uganda Prime Minister Apolo Nsimbambi will attend the live televised grand final of the 91热爆 Swahili young entrepreneur competition Faidika na 91热爆 (Prosper with the 91热爆) to be held in Kampala, Uganda on Thursday 26 June.

The grand final will see five young entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to an independent panel of local judges.

The winner will receive US$5,000 to help turn their idea into a successful business which will have a positive impact on their community.

They will also receive the Faidika na 91热爆 trophy, designed and cast by Ugandan artist Peter Oloya.

The five finalists are:

24-year-old Ashura Kisesa from Burundi, who hopes to build commercial public toilets in the cities and towns of East and Central Africa;

22-year-old Witness Omoga from Kenya, who would like to produce ID cards for schools;

17-year-old Rangira Aime Frederick from Rwanda, who plans to make energy from domestic waste;

23-year-old Apolinary Joseph Laksh from Tanzania, who hopes to produce charcoal from recycled materials;

23-year-old Dereick Kajukano from Uganda, who plans to make bags out of plastic trash.

The award-winning Ugandan composer and singer, Maurice Kirya, will perform at the final to be broadcast live by the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation.
