It's a weekend Sue Sweeney sandwich on Radio Newcastle

91Èȱ¬ Radio Newcastle announced today a new presenter line-up for weekends.

Ìý

The North East comic and Radio Newcastle presenter Sue Sweeney will be hosting a morning and an evening show on both Saturday and Sunday.

Ìý

Sue's new weekend shows start on Saturday 2 February from 9.00am to 1.00pm and continues on Saturday evening 10.00pm to 1.00am.

Ìý

On Sundays she's on from 9.00am to 1.00pm and again from 10.00pm to 1.00am.

Ìý

How does she feel about being possibly the hardest-working woman in radio?

Ìý

Sue says: "I'm thrilled to bits to be chatting to my listeners, not once a day, but twice!

Ìý

"The best thing about radio is the stories I get from my listeners and the laughs we have at the weekend. I'm really looking forward to my new routine."

Ìý

Radio Newcastle Editor Andrew Robson says: "Sue is a great North East personality and a first-class entertainer. She makes every show a must-listen. There is no doubt that Sue creates radio with character."

Ìý

Also joining the weekend line-up on Radio Newcastle is afternoon presenter Alfie Joey, whose weekday highlights will feature in Alfie's Comic Cuts on Saturdays (1.00-2.00pm).

Ìý

And after the traditional Saturday afternoon North East Sport (2.00-6.30pm), Jamie Wilkinson will present Saturday Night Beat Surrender (6.30-10.00pm) for people who love to play the odd bit of air guitar.

Ìý

Jamie says: "It'll be stuff like The Jam, The Kinks and Kaiser Chiefs. It'll be a great listen if you're getting ready to go out, but it's fine with me if you're staying in as well!"

Ìý

Radio Newcastle favourite Garden Mania moves an hour later in its Sunday lunchtime slot (1.00-2.00pm), Kathy Secker's afternoon Dedications programme will be extended by an hour (2.00-5.00pm), followed by Paddy MacDee's Solid Gold Sunday with hits from the Sixties and Seventies which is also extended by one hour (5.00-7.00pm).

Ìý

Frank Wappat stays in his usual Sunday evening slot of 7.00 to 10.00pm with his blend of music and nostalgia.
