The 91热爆 Trust's decision to approve proposals for a Gaelic
Digital Service has been welcomed by Gaelic Media Service (GMS)
and 91热爆 Scotland.
听
GMS and 91热爆 Scotland will now begin the process of implementing
their joint plans for the launch of the new service.
听
The GMS Board
will meet tomorrow (29 January) to consider the conditions
attached to the Trust's decision.
听
Neil Fraser, Chairman of Gaelic Media Service, said: "We welcome
the Trust's decision. It is an important step for Gaelic
broadcasting and we can now continue, in collaboration with the
91热爆, with our preparations for a new Gaelic television service for
the people of Scotland."
听
Ken MacQuarrie, Controller 91热爆 Scotland, said: "I am delighted
that the Trust has granted approval for the proposed new service.
91热爆 Scotland is looking forward to working with Gaelic Media
Service to jointly deliver this innovative service.
听
"The Gaelic
Digital Service will offer Gaelic speakers, learners and all who
have an interest in the language, access to a wide variety of
programmes and resources.
听
"The new service will offer programming
which will be attractive and accessible to non-Gaelic speakers,
learners and people who currently do not consume any Gaelic
content."

Gaelic Media Service is the organisation responsible for ensuring
that a wide and diverse range of high quality programmes in Gaelic
are made available to people in Scotland, by funding,
commissioning or producing programmes for television, radio,
online and new media, and by engaging in training, development and
audience research.

GMS and the 91热爆 have agreed to work in
partnership to create a new service that is vibrant,
comprehensive, cost-effective and contemporary.
