New schedule for Radio Wales
|
91Èȱ¬ Radio Wales has announced a bold new line-up for its weekday
programmes.
Ìý
The changes are designed to play to the station's strengths
at a time when it is enjoying record listening figures.
Ìý
From 7 September 2007, popular presenter Roy Noble will move his two-hour
programme to the afternoon on Radio Wales taking on the challenge of
radio's most notoriously difficult time slot.
Ìý
"I'm looking forward to the challenge of moving to the afternoons," said
Roy.
Ìý
"I've got a loyal army of fans and I'm hoping they'll be right
behind me."
Ìý
A new three-hour morning magazine programme from 9am will be presented by
Wales Today's Jamie Owen and X Ray's Louise Elliott.
Ìý
Radio Wales Editor Sali Collins said: "Radio Wales is enjoying unprecedented success at the moment, but we
can't afford to be complacent.
Ìý
"We
must evolve, and this is a good time to introduce a new schedule to help
build our afternoon audience while drawing in new listeners during the
morning."
Ìý
Owen Money will continue to host his extremely popular Money For Nothing show on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons while Alan Thompson will
front the station's weekday evening show from Monday to Thursday.
Ìý
Mal Pope will continue to present on Friday evenings.
Ìý
Adam Walton will remain as presenter of the Sunday night new music show
and technology magazine Mousemat.
Ìý
The schedule rethink is part of Radio Wales' broader strategy to build on
its popular appeal and unique strengths.
Ìý
"We realise this is a change for our listeners and we hope that they will
enjoy the new line-up," said Sali Collins.
