Born on 28 October 1957? The Today programme would like to hear from you

To mark the Today programme's 50th birthday later this year the flagship 91Èȱ¬ Radio 4 current affairs show is looking for people who were born on 28 October 1957 – the same day Today was broadcast for the first time.

Ìý

The programme would like to hear from people who are willing to share interesting stories about their lives in order to build a unique picture of how life in the UK has changed in the 50 years since Today began.

Ìý

Some dramatic changes in British society have taken place over the past five decades.

Ìý

The Today programme will use personal experiences and accounts of listeners born on 28 October 1957 to illustrate major social trends, the effect historical events had on everyday people and how the picture varies up and down the country.

Ìý

Some of the best stories will be broadcast on Today in October as part of the programme's 50th birthday celebrations.

Ìý

With potentially around 1,500 to 2,000 people in the UK born on 28 October 1957 the Today team are keen to hear stories on as wide a range of topics as possible.

Ìý

What experiences have people had of changes in employment, immigration, housing, relationships and family life over the last 50 years?

Ìý

The stories might be childhood recollections, an event from teenage years or perhaps about how life as an adult compares with parents' or children's lives.

Ìý

And how did this generation's lives differ from their parents, or grandparents?

Ìý

Where were they born – in the UK's nations and regions, what was life like growing up? How has their local area changed?

Ìý

Or perhaps they were born to some of the first generation of immigrants to Britain, what memories do they have about making their way in the UK and how does it compare to today?

Ìý

People with stories to tell should contact the Today programme via the website: bbc.co.uk/today.
