91Èȱ¬ Sport to broadcast the 2007 Derby

91Èȱ¬ Sport will provide viewers with live and comprehensive coverage of The 2007 Vodafone Derby Festival which will take place at Epsom racecourse on 1 and 2 June.

Ìý

Clare Balding will lead the 91Èȱ¬'s coverage of this prestigious meeting in the racing calendar.

Ìý

She will be joined by expert analyst and four-time Derby winner Willie Carson, who this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of his triumph in The Oaks on the Queen's horse Dunfermline.

Ìý

Commentary on the runners and riders will come from a team headed up by Jim McGrath, who will be accompanied by Ray Cochrane and Ian Bartlett.

Ìý

Roving reporter Rishi Persad will deliver reports from around the course and the 91Èȱ¬'s betting expert Angus Loughran will be on hand to give hints and tips on the market.

Railcam will once again be in operation this year. This remote controlled camera will be mounted on a specially built rail, offering a unique view of the field as it rounds Tattenham Corner, one of the most important parts of The Derby.

Ìý

This year, a new graphics system will be in place in the weighing room for race analysts Ian Bartlett and Ray Cochrane. This will illustrate the defining moments in the big race, as the commentators analyse the action from various angles.

Ìý

Later in the day, 91Èȱ¬ Two will also broadcast a preview to the Derby hosted by Clare Balding.

Ìý

The programme will look at the runners and riders competing in the big race, as well as re-live a story or two of some of the great names who have won it.

Ìý

Coverage on Saturday 2 June will start at 1pm on 91Èȱ¬ One, with the main race at 4.20pm.

Ìý

Racing fans will also be able to tune into 91Èȱ¬ Radio Five Live to hear all the big races on both days, presented by Arlo White.

Ìý

Racing correspondent Cornelius Lysaght will deliver all the news, and commentary will come courtesy of Luke Harvey and John Hunt. Former Classic-winning jockey Jason Weaver joins the team once again and will bring the low-down from the paddock.

Ìý

On Friday 1 June there will be coverage of all the races through the Simon Mayo programme, concluding with The Oaks at 4.05pm.

Ìý

And, new for 2007, a special live show will be broadcast from the parade ring on Saturday 2 June from 12.15pm.
