Liverpool's incredible Champions League triumph in Istanbul in 2005 has been
overwhelmingly voted the greatest game ever by listeners to 91Èȱ¬ Radio Five
Live.

The implausible comeback against strong favourites AC Milan from 3-0 down at
half-time was chosen from a list of ten games by nearly 40% of respondents to an
online poll on bbc.co.uk/fivelive.

The vote is part of the 91Èȱ¬'s celebration of 80 years of football commentary on
the 91Èȱ¬.
Ìý
A panel consisting of Sir Trevor Brooking, Barry Davies and Steve
Claridge decided the final ten games from an initial 20 matches.

80th anniversary of 91Èȱ¬ football commentary

On Sunday 21 January 2007 91Èȱ¬ Five Live Sports Extra - Radio Five Live's digital sister
station - will broadcast a special 80th anniversary commentary of Arsenal v
Manchester United at the Emirates stadium from 4pm.
Ìý
The commentary from John Murray will utilise the original printed grid first published in the Radio Times in
1927 to describe the progress of the ball with position calling from James
Alexander Gordon at the match.
Ìý
They are joined by special guest pundit musician and
Manchester United fan David Gray and Arsenal legend Bob Wilson.
