Paul Merton and Cilla Black

Cilla Black and Ian Hislop on guest list for Paul Merton's last Room 101 series

A brand new series of Room 101 comes to 91Èȱ¬ Two next month with six guests facing Paul Merton's scrutiny on his final stint hosting the series.

Ìý

His guests - in transmission order - are Cilla Black, Marcus Brigstocke, Nigel Havers, Mark Steel and Davina McCall plus Ian Hislop, Paul's fellow team captain on Have I Got News For You, who will be his very last guest.

Ìý

In the first programme, on Friday 5 January 2007 at 10pm, Cilla tells us just what she thinks of gorgeous weathergirls: "They're usually pregnant aren't they? How dare they look that fabulous at six o'clock in the morning."

Ìý

And why she dislikes camera phones so much, especially when she finds herself splashed across the pages of Heat magazine when caught snoozing with her mouth wide open on the Eurostar.

Ìý

She says: "Nobody asks for autographs any more... but it would be nice if they said 'Cilla, give us a smile!'"

Ìý

Actor and comedian Marcus Brigstocke would like to say goodbye forever to magician and entertainer David Blaine: "He even made Paul McCartney angry, and that's just not allowed!"

Ìý

An angry Nigel Havers reveals how he would kill all dogs in cities.

Ìý

Comedian and writer Mark Steel would like to dispense with those politicians who claim to be fans of the Scissor Sisters as a way of looking cool in the hopes of gaining popularity.

Ìý

And Davina McCall condemns all of Frank Sinatra's music to the daunting prospect of entering Room 101 which she hopes will mean an end to all the karaoke Sinatra impersonators in pubs and clubs.

Ìý

Ian Hislop completes Paul's eleventh and final series by revealing his hatred for strawberries and his disdain for The Beatles.

Ìý

He also tries to get one of Paul's own heroes, silent movie star Charlie Chaplin, into Room 101.

Ìý

Paul Merton comments: "I've had a wonderful time hosting Room 101 and I'm delighted that it has lasted so long - and long may it continue.

Ìý

"My personal highlight was talking to Spike Milligan, which was one of his last television appearances before he died."

Ìý

He adds: "The one thing I would put in Room 101 would be canned laughter."

Ìý

The Series Producer is Chris Curley and Room 101 is a Hat Trick Production for 91Èȱ¬ Two.
