91Èȱ¬ Oxford's Big Christmas Carol aims for Oxfordshire record

91Èȱ¬ Radio Oxford 95.2FM is hosting a county-wide bid to beat the record for Oxfordshire's biggest simultaneous Christmas Carol Concert.

Ìý

This year's Big Christmas Carol will take place on 14 December at locations across the region and will be broadcast live on Radio Oxford 95.2FM and online at bbc.co.uk/oxford.

Ìý

People can sing along at home or at work, come to one of the venues or accept Radio Oxford's invitation to add a new venue to the growing list and help the bid to beat the record.

Ìý

If you can assemble a group of singers, whether it's in a pub, house, church, shop or school, you could be part of a live concert broadcast and Christmas history in Oxfordshire as the whole county comes together.

Ìý

Visit bbc.co.uk/oxford, select The Big Christmas Carol and fill out the short form.

Ìý

The main venue will be The King's Centre in Oxford, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis to those who register their interest on the bbc.co.uk/oxford.

Ìý

The record will only be beaten if people from across the region are singing in all manner of locations.

Ìý

Venues currently planning to join in the fun in Oxford are:

The Anchor Inn, Hayfield Road

Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre

Oxford Adventist Church, Chester Street, off Iffley Road

Thames View Road, Rosehill

Westgate Pavilion (part of the Magic of Christmas event)

Ìý

Around the county, a large number of varied locations already signed up means singers from right across the region will be part of the Big Christmas Carol:

Tesco, Abingdon

BookCrossers online

Bradwell Village Hall, Burford

Orchard Shopping Centre, Didcot

Eynsham (various pubs and churches)

Town Hall, Henley

St Mary's, Oakley

Shellingford Church of England Primary School

The Christmas Tree, Thame High Street

Old Mill Hall for Wantage and Grove

All churches in Wantage and Grove

Asda, Wheatley

Witney Community Church

Ìý

Oxfordshire residents around the world are also expected to join in online during their holidays and trips abroad.

Ìý

For everyone involved, the Big Christmas Carol will be the perfect way to start the Christmas festivities, at what is likely to be the country's biggest carol concert.

Ìý

Carol singers can visit bbc.co.uk/oxford and download a flyer and poster to help publicise their contribution to the concert, along with an order of service complete with the words to all the carols.
