91Èȱ¬ Arabic in conversation with Sudanese youth

91Èȱ¬ Arabic builds on its earlier pan-Arab roadshow meeting young people across the Middle East with a new interactive initiative – Sudan: Voices And Views From Within.

The highlight is three live debates from three major cities – Khartoum, Wad Madani and Port Sudan.

Events also include interactive booths and graffiti posters, which have been placed in busy central locations. The aim is to kick start a conversation beyond Sudan to involve Arabic speakers across the region.

The first debate takes place in Khartoum on Monday 4 December where the education of women is the subject under discussion. In Wad Madani on Wednesday 6 December the topic is migration from the countryside to the city.

And finally, in Port Sudan on Monday 18 December, the subject is development and unemployment.

The debates will be broadcast live on the 91Èȱ¬ Arabic flagship programmes Talking Point and 91Èȱ¬ Xtra.

91Èȱ¬ Arabic Editor, Adel Soliman, says he is looking forward to engaging directly with listeners in Sudan for the second time: "We first came to Sudan earlier this year with a pan-Arab roadshow.

"We met people face-to-face, shook their hands and heard their opinions on a wide range of topics affecting young people. It was a fantastic experience and one we were keen to repeat as soon as possible.

Earlier this year they proved to be very successful, giving us insights into what people really think. On Monday 4 December the debate takes place at Khartoum University at 6pm local time.

The 91Èȱ¬ Arabic team will discuss the education of women with a panel of guest speakers including the Dean of Al-Ahfad College, Professor Qassem Badri; the Head of the newÌýDemocratic Movement, Hala Abdulhaleem and the Minister of Social Affairs, Women and Children, Samai Ahmed Mohamed.

The debate will be broadcast live on 91Èȱ¬ Arabic's interactive programme Talking Point. Audiences in Khartoum can listen live on 91Èȱ¬ relay 91 FM.

In Wad Madani on Wednesday 6 December the debate is held at Al Jazirah University, at 1pm local time.

On the panel, to discuss migration, will be the Head of the Sudanese Studies Centre, Dr Haider Ibraheem, and the writer and columnist, Haj Waraq.

The debate will be broadcast live on 91Èȱ¬ Arabic's youth magazine programme 91Èȱ¬ Xtra which follows up the discussion with a live phone-in from across the Arab world. Audiences in Wad Madani can listen live on 91Èȱ¬ relay 91.5 FM.

On Saturday 18 December the debate takes place in Port Sudan at 6pm local time. The topic under discussion is development and unemployment. This debate will also be live on Talking Point and audiences in Port Sudan can listen live on 91Èȱ¬ relay 91 FM.
