Jan Ravens hangs up dance shoes as she's booted off Strictly Come Dancing
|
Comedy actress Jan Ravens didn't make a good enough impression with the public as she was voted off 91Èȱ¬ One's Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
Ìý
Jan and Anton Du Beke went head-to-head tonight with Claire King and Brendan Cole.
Ìý
The judges said -
Ìý
Len: "I wanted to see lots of turns... I've got to say you had a go. The entry was nice, it was poignant. Watch your posture."
Ìý
Bruno: "You remind me of a great big sailing ship on a maiden voyage... Then you started to sink a bit but overall it was good."
Ìý
Craig: "I thought you did ok however your backsteps are too high which made it look like a mule kicking. But all in all I thought that was your personal best."
Ìý
And Arlene: "Without a doubt you made a step in the right direction. Anton was clinging on to you. Try to keep that body contact, don't blow away stick with him."
Ìý
Anton said: "The Viennese waltz is such a difficult dance you can't mask anything. So this week it was incredibly difficult as the women have to work on technique, I think she did a marvellous job."
Ìý
Jan and Anton scored their personal best this week with 25 out of 40.
Ìý
Jan said: "It's the closest to heaven I've been and I don't want to go home tonight."
Ìý
All the contestants danced either the Viennese waltz or the salsa.
Ìý
Once again at the top of the scoreboard with the judges this week were cricketer and heartthrob Mark Ramprakash with partner Karen Hardy scoring an impressive 36 out of 40.
Ìý
But it was touch and go when Karen and Mark had to restart their dance tonight as the tassels on Karen's dress became entangled with Mark's microphone.
Ìý
Mark begged to be allowed to start the dance again - "please let us start again" - and second time round the couple ended up giving a sizzling performance of the salsa to Hot Hot Hot.
Ìý
He was grateful for being allowed to start again and said: "I hope everyone understands."
Ìý
There are only eight couples left in the competition. Next week they will be dancing either the American smooth or the samba.
Ìý
Last year's finalist Zoë Ball joined the professional dancers this evening to perform her favourite dance from series three, the samba.
Ìý
There were more fireworks tonight when Brendan Cole caused further controversy as he stormed off set and left his partner Claire King on her own to discover the judges' scores with presenter Tess Daly.
Ìý
Brendan was once again furious at the judges' comments.
Ìý
On their performance the judges said -
Ìý
Len: "Dancing is all about balance, you don't want all of anything, you want a balance of everything. But you also want some clever turns and underarm turns. That dance was not in balance, there was too much raunch and not enough dance. There was too much walking."
Ìý
Bruno: "She can do sexy what was that all about? Don't pick on the judges, pick on yourself."
Ìý
Craig: "That was more of a pole dance. It might have gone better if you'd have had a big old pole in the middle. There was no connection it was just a dance. I like you two as characters but it didn't work."
Ìý
And
Arlene: "The best thing I can say Claire is I wish I had your legs and Brendan I wish I was doing the salsa with you - Brendan you're hot."
Ìý
Watching in the audience tonight were Jane Horrocks and Kirsty Allsop - both of whom wanted Jan and Anton to stay.
Ìý
Kirsty admitted: "After having an 11lb 11oz baby boy - I think I'll be staying off the dance floor."
