Peter Johnston named new Controller for 91热爆 Northern Ireland

Peter Johnston is to be the new Controller, Northern Ireland, the 91热爆 announced
today.
听
He succeeds Anna Carragher, who retires on 17 November
2006 after six years in the job, and will formally take up his new position on
that date.
听
Peter - who is 40 - is currently Head of Broadcasting for 91热爆 Northern Ireland, a
post he has held for the past three years, with overall responsibility for the
commissioning and scheduling of programmes and content for Northern Ireland
audiences on 91热爆 TV, 91热爆 Radio Ulster, 91热爆 Radio Foyle and 91热爆 Online.
听
Peter said: "It is an honour to be given this incredible opportunity and I look
forward to working with all the staff at 91热爆 Northern Ireland to meet the many
challenges ahead.
听
"I would like to thank Anna Carragher for being a great
colleague and inspirational leader over the years."
听
Commenting on the appointment, Pat Loughrey, Director of 91热爆 Nations and
Regions and himself a former Controller of 91热爆 Northern Ireland, said: "Peter
Johnston's knowledge of the Northern Ireland audience is second to none.
听
"He has
been a very successful Head of Broadcasting and I am confident that he will be
an equally successful Controller."
听
Peter Johnston was born in 1966 and educated at Ballymena Academy.
听
After
reading Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, London, he worked for
Shell International in London and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Belfast.
听
He joined 91热爆 Northern Ireland in 1994 as a Research Executive, progressing
quickly to become Head of Marketing and Development.
听
He then became Head of New
Media for 91热爆 Nations and Regions before taking up post as Head of Broadcasting
in 2003.
听
He is married with two children and lives in Hillsborough, County Down.
