Debbie is not ashamed to say that she is a recovering heroin addict and, for the last 12 months, has been volunteering on the CSV Action Desk as part of her therapy.
Ìý
Her show will feature stories from recovering addicts, volunteers who give their time to make a difference, as well as help, support and advice for families, and an emotional interview with a current drug user.
Ìý
Martin Evans, CSV Action Desk Producer at Radio Gloucestershire,
said: "I'm really proud of Debbie, she's turned a negative into a positive and
really worked hard to achieve her goals.
Ìý
"It's a privilege to have her on our
team and it's great to see her moving forward. That's what our service is
all about."
Ìý
Debbie hopes her success will inspire other people who have issues with drugs, and show them that there can be light at the end of the tunnel.
Ìý
Debbie says: "Just over a year ago I was
living rough in London and honestly thought that I would die taking
drugs.
Ìý
"I couldn't see a way out, then one day I was sent to a treatment
centre in Stroud and my life started to turn around.
Ìý
"I now want to
use all of my experiences to help others."
