Business depends on profits to survive and grow - but what part does social responsibility play?
听
Does a commitment to behave ethically while improving the
quality of life for workers, their families and the local community help
or hinder the bottom-line?
听
This is the question that a panel of business leaders and commentators will
consider in the latest 91热爆 World Service debate: Corporate Social Responsibility: people or profit?
听
It will be staged before an audience of past and present winners of The Ernst
and Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in Monte Carlo on 9 June 2006 and broadcast
on 91热爆 World Service on 11 June at 2.00pm, repeated at 8.00pm.
听
91热爆 business journalist Peter Day will chair the debate.
听
He says: "Corporate social responsibility is an issue facing business worldwide - and is
a possible key to business survival in the 21st century.
听
"We hope the debate will help our audience understand why there is a debate
about CSR and shed light on why it is important.
听
"Contributions will also come from an audience of some of the brightest and best
entrepreneurs in the world and established business leaders."
