DJ Bobby Friction, Wadia, Llewelyn-Bowen and Ramsay usher in new Asian Network weekday afternoons sound

Nina Wadia, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Gordon Ramsay are all set to feature as guests in the first week of the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network's revamped new schedule.

The Asian Network's brand new weekday schedule is fully in place from today.

Ìý

The new breakfast show Sonia Deol on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network (6.00-9.00am) and the compelling mid-morning phone in Anita Rani on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network (9.00am-noon) went on air on Monday 24 April 2006.

Ìý

From today the station offers listeners daily news programme The Wrap (noon-12.30pm), a fast paced news programme offering the day's top stories to an urban listenership.

Ìý

And new arts, entertainment and culture show Nikki Bedi on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network starts this week (1230-4.00pm), focusing on the best of British and world Asian culture in the arts and entertainment world.

The show includes top guests and features the daily soap Silver Street.

Ìý

Guests for launch week include music producer Rishi Rich, Father Ted's Ardal O'Hanlon, Gordon Ramsay, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, actress/comedian Nina Wadia, stand up comic Sodhi Funabi, Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant, Britain's Eurovision hopeful Daz Sampson, authors Gautam Malkhani and Nirpal Singh Dhallwal, poet Imiiaz Dhorkar and 91Èȱ¬ Radio 1 DJ Nihal.

Adil Ray brings his irreverent personality to drive time - Adil Ray on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network (4.00-7.00pm) includes a mix of journalism and the best of music and entertainment.

New weekday Hindi-Urdu programme Gagan Grewal on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network (7.00-8.00pm) offers a much younger tone and appeal, with the best of news, views, discussion and celebrity interviews in Hindi-Urdu with former Breakfast presenter Gagan Grewal.

Weekly features will include Hollywood and Bollywood movie reviews by showbiz specialist Pablo; regular advice from agony uncle Chacha Ji; a look at the lives of prominent British Asian celebrities in A week in the life of...; weekly competition Translate a Track; and interviews with top guests including Bollywood star Aamir Khan and England and Worcestershire cricketer Kabir Ali.

Daily languages show Regional Languages (8.00-10.00pm) offers programmes in Mirpuri, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi and Hindi/Urdu.

DJ Bobby Friction will make the Asian Network 'the true home of British Asian music', hosting the station's new cutting edge late night music show Friction on the 91Èȱ¬ Asian Network - Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10.00pm to 1.00am, offering the best of new British Asian music both signed and unsigned, covering the blurred edges between Desi Beats and other music genres.

Confirmed guests for the launch week include V Double E (Vishal Gopal), Juttla, Rukkus, Raxstar and Felix from Basement Jaxx who will talk about his forthcoming projects and confirm whether rumours that Basement Jaxx may be recording with Hindi singer Reena Bhardwaj for their next album are true.

Regular weekly features include Future Friction - focusing on up and coming unsigned talent, Raw Jaw- an MC/Rap battle, live DJ sets from clubs and acoustic sessions recorded at the 91Èȱ¬'s Maida Vale studios.

On Wednesdays the late night music comes from The Hype show with DJ Kayper (10.00pm-1.00am).

Ìý

Turntablist extraordinaire, DJ Kayper mixes and scratches beats from Hip Hop to Bhangra to Dancehall.

Ìý

Kayper also showcases the best in new British talent, giving unsigned music makers the chance to get their beats heard.

Ìý

The first show will see her spinning an exclusive tribute to late hip hop producer J Dilla ahead of The Roots tribute concert taking place in New York.

She will also speak to some of the performers from the concert which includes Talib Kweli, Nas and Common.
