"In all of human history, civilization has been independently established only six times: once each in China, India, Egypt, Mesopotamia, and I don't know what the other two were - someone's spilt coffee on the book." - Chris Addison
Ìý
Quick-witted comedian Chris Addison has quickly carved out a reputation for himself as one of the most intelligent comics in the UK today.
Ìý
He has been nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award in Edinburgh an astonishing three times and his debut acting performance as Ollie in the critically acclaimed 91Èȱ¬ Television series The Thick Of It has won him even more fans.
Ìý
Civilization, his new series for Radio 4, is based on his Perrier nominated live show where he ruminates on how human civilization started, where it may be heading and why, oh why, he decided to pick it as a topic for a comedy show.
Ìý
Civilization starts on Wednesday 5 April.
Ìý
Following a successful one-off special on Radio 4 late last year, political comedy show Political Animal returns on Tuesday 4 April with hosts John Oliver (Mock the Week, The Department) and Andy Zaltzman (The Department, The Late Edition).
Ìý
A weekly show recorded close to transmission, comedians and writers from all parts of the comedy spectrum come together to perform exclusively political material in front of a live audience for this exciting new series.
Ìý
The series not only showcases the circuit's top political comedians but also other leading stand-up talent.
Ìý
The year is 2099. Like some strange collision of Doctor Who, Quatermass and Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, sci-fi comedy Nebulous beams back onto Radio 4 with more monsters, more mayhem and more bizarre and inventive plots from Wednesday 5 April.
Ìý
Written by and starring Graham Duff (Ideal) and Mark Gatiss (League of Gentlemen) it has a top-notch cast of guest villains in the shape of Steve Coogan, Peter Davison, Kate O'Mara and David Warner.
Ìý
This brand new series promises to be as clever and funny as the first critically acclaimed run last year.
