Jon East, C91Èȱ¬'s new Head of Drama, has commissioned a raft of stunning new series which are set to mark a new, more ambitious era of children's drama on 91Èȱ¬ Television.

Roman Mysteries (five x 60 minutes) will be an exciting, glossy period drama series set against the colourful backdrop of the Roman empire.

The series follows the fortunes of a group of four children as they investigate a series of puzzling mysteries that expose them to everything from the jeopardy of the Vesuvius eruption to the intrigue of the Roman senate.

Based on the popular novels of the same name by Caroline Lawrence and written by Olivia Hetreed (Girl With A Pearl Earring), it will be made by Suitable Viewing with Martyn Auty as producer and Jon East as C91Èȱ¬ executive producer for transmission in 2007/8.

Kudos are making I Spy (ten x 30 minutes) for C91Èȱ¬, which could best be described as a younger version of their hit 91Èȱ¬ ONE series Spooks, with a dash of 'high camp' thrown in for good measure.

A new take on one of the most popular literary figures will be what to expect of Young Dracula when a single dad Count Dracula moves to modern-day Britain from Transylvania with his two children, Vlad and Ingrid.

The fast and physical world of wheelchair basketball sets the scene for the drama Desperados, which charts the journey of Charlie, who - following a disabling accident - finds new meaning and purpose in his life when he joins a junior wheelchair basketball team, the Desperados.
