91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester listeners are getting a double treat to see in the New Year as two new presenters are welcomed into the fold.

Ìý

Tony Fisher takes over the Afternoon Show on 9 January and Richard Wilford joins as the new Drivetime Show presenter on 16 January.

Ìý

Tony Fisher joins 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester's Afternoon Show from 91Èȱ¬ Southern Counties and has worked in radio for 21 years, starting in hospital radio at the ripe old age of 11.

Ìý

He finished runner-up in a national newspaper's search for a DJ of the future.

Ìý

Tony also started his own mobile disco at 13 before convincing Pennine Radio to give him a chance with his very own show as he was leaving school.

Ìý

He then worked at a variety of radio stations up and down the country before recently deciding to join the team at 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester.

Ìý

Tony has fond memories of the area as he met his wife in a nightclub in Worcester.

Ìý

He says: "It's fantastic to be returning to the place I like to call home. It will be great to have a curry on The Tything, try a Mr Tudge sausage in Hereford, watch cricket at New Road and get a decent pint by the river at the Diglis.

Ìý

"I'm very excited at this new challenge of the Afternoon Show and it'll be great to hear from old friends and meet new ones."

Ìý

Richard Wilford takes over the Drivetime Show at 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester after more than ten years working at 91Èȱ¬ WM.

Ìý

Richard has been a mainstay of the sports department, commentating on football, cricket and basketball and presenting the station's midweek football coverage for six seasons.

Ìý

Over the last couple of years Richard has become the regular stand-in presenter on the 91Èȱ¬ WM Breakfast Show, covering a wide range of news and current affairs while inflicting his dry sense of humour on the audience.

Ìý

He says: "I'm really flattered to be given the chance to spread my wings and put my own stamp on the Drivetime Show.

Ìý

"We're looking to blend the day's main news and sport stories with a real sense of fun, helping us relax into the evening.

Ìý

"I also hope that we'll have a programme that everyone will want to join in with, relating their own experiences of the issues we're reporting.

Ìý

"Maybe I am just nosey by nature, but I love to hear other people's stories!"

Ìý

James Coghill, Managing Editor, 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester, adds: "It's a thrill to be adding two such high-calibre presenters to the 91Èȱ¬ Hereford & Worcester team. Both will bring different qualities to our daytime schedule.

Ìý

"Tony has an infectious sense of fun and knows Herefordshire and Worcestershire inside out. Richard is a powerful journalist, a voice of the people, who will get under the skin of the stories and issues which matter to this area."

Ìý

Tony Fisher can be heard each weekday on 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester's Afternoon Show from Monday 9 January 2006, between 12.30 and 4.00pm.

Ìý

Richard Wilford can be heard each weekday on 91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester's Drivetime Show from Monday 16 January 2006, between 4.00 and 7.00pm.

Ìý

91Èȱ¬ Hereford and Worcester broadcasts on 104, 104.6 and 94.7 FM.
