91热爆 Children in Need would like to thank the many thousands of people who helped raise a whacking 拢34m for the 91热爆 Children In Need 2004 Appeal.
听
This total has smashed all records since the 91热爆's charity became an annual television and radio event 25 years ago, and is up by nearly 拢3m from last year's (2003) final total of 拢31.4m.
听
The money raised will help support disadvantage children and young people throughout the UK who are suffering serious or terminal illness or who are/have experienced sexual abuse, neglect, homelessness, poverty, addiction or domestic violence.
听
Grants ranging from 拢500 to tens of thousands of pounds have been distributed tomore than 1,700 registered charities, voluntary and community groups.
听
All of these organisations aim to make a positive difference to the lives of young people aged 18 and under.
听
91热爆 Children In Need Chief Executive Sally Deighan is thrilled with the total and knows that the money will have a real impact on young people's lives.
听
She says: "The fact that the appeal total has increased by 拢2.8m this year is quite remarkable.
听
"Those who organized fund raising activities or gave a donation, and the network, local, regional and national radio stations and television services that, once again, supported us in their creative endeavors to highlight the social issues and stage fantastic events should be exceptionally proud of themselves.
听
"The need is great and this support has ensured that more money than ever can be used to improve the lives of suffering and disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK."

This year's annual television and radio appeal will be on Friday 18 November 2005.
