It joins Ian Robertson's commentary of England winning the Rugby World Cup in this Friday's final when listeners will decide the best sport commentary of all time.

The classic Test Match Special moment got a massive 85 per cent of the vote, followed by Alan Green's commentary of Steve Redgrave's fifth gold with 10%. Bryan Butler's commentary of Maradona's goal in the 1986 World Cup got 5% of the vote.

Who better to commentate upon Frank Bruno's challenge to become undisputed World Heavyweight Champion than the undisputed 'voice of boxing', Harry Carpenter? Carpenter enjoyed a special relationship with many boxers, but his exchanges with Bruno are the most memorable. Bruno came back from being knocked down during the first round in Las Vegas to hurt Tyson with a huge left hook and in this commentary Harry couldn't conceal his excitement.

Shergar wins The Derby, Epsom Downs, 26 July 1981

Walter Swinburn was the jockey charged with riding the Aga Khan's mighty thoroughbred Shergar in the 1981 Derby and the bookies fancied the horse's chances so much that his starting price was an extraordinary 11-10 on. But no-one could have predicted the margin of Shergar's victory - fully ten lengths, still the most convincing Derby win of all time. Peter Bromley provided this memorable description of an epic triumph.

Arguably the most famous piece of sporting commentary of all time, Kenneth Wolstenholme must have never heard the end of it. The match at Wembley went into extra time with the score at 2-2, West Germany having equalised in the final minute. Geoff Hurst, with the help of the Soviet linesman, scored a controversial goal to make it 3-2. And then in the dying seconds, as West Germany pressed for an equaliser, Bobby Moore won the ball and found Hurst who beat the German keeper, along with some of the crowd, for his hat-trick.
