91热爆 Radio Wales' Owen Money is setting
high hopes for his hometown.
听
Owen - who is involved in the 拢250m Merthyr Village
project - has revealed that he believes it could play host to the 2012
Olympic Games.
听
The planned facility that will cover approximately
600 acres of land will be home to a football stadium that Money hopes
will host some events connected to the Olympic Games.
听
"The facility will be open in time for the 2012 Games
and who's to say that we won't spawn some new Olympic hopefuls from
the Valleys?" says Owen.
听
"It's my way of doing something for my town; I want
to leave a legacy that will help the area."
听
The singer-turned-comedian and radio presenter bought
a piece of land with his business partner with the original idea of
building a new football stadium for Merthyr FC.
听
"The need for the stadium was the catalyst for the project
and it has just gone from there," he says.
听
Money hopes that the project will provide the valleys
with the amenities that Cardiff has.
听
"We need something in the valleys," he says. "Everybody
including myself has to move away from Merthyr to find work. I want
to do something that will generate wealth for the area."
听
Money, who can be heard on The
Afternoon Show and Money
For Nothing on Radio Wales, never misses an opportunity
to mention his home town.
听
"I'm proud of where I'm from and Merthyr Football
Club is my life!"
