Jimmy McGovern, one of the most accomplished screenwriters
in British film and Television has been commissioned to write a new
six-part drama series for 91热爆 ONE, it was announced today by Jane Tranter,
91热爆 Controller of Drama Commissioning.
听
The critically-acclaimed writer of Cracker, Hillsborough,
Sunday and award-winning films Priest and Liam returns to 91热爆 ONE for
the first time since The Lakes, with a new drama production set in his
native Liverpool.
听
Tranter says: "This new project is a highly-authored,
signature drama by one of Britain's foremost writing talents.
听
"Jimmy's ability to engage an audience with thought-provoking
and challenging dramas sets him apart from other modern-day writers.
听
"This six-part production is an emotional, funny, poignant
and relevant drama series, exploring the lives of an ordinary community."
听
Jimmy McGovern says: "I look around me and see poverty,
crime, drugs and violence, yes, I also see a lot of love. And that's
what I'm doing: telling love stories."

Executive producer, Sita Williams, says: "I can't think
of a better writer than Jimmy McGovern to combine the realities of 21st
Century life with the ordinary emotions of everyone everywhere."

of Liverpool - the real, messy, glorious working class world McGovern
grew up in, amidst the people he knows best.

A Granada production for 91热爆 ONE, the executive producers
are Sita Williams (Granada), John Yorke and Lucy Richer (91热爆). Filming
begins in October for five months for transmission in early 2006.
