A new series from 91Èȱ¬ Scotland will follow the growing number of sports enthusiasts who believe in pushing push back the boundaries.

Ìý

The Adventure Show focuses on fanatics who get their kicks out of non-traditional sports with an emphasis on extremes and endurance.

Ìý

Extreme rural and maritime activities such as white-water kayaking and windsurfing together with street sports such as hybrid snowboarding will come under the spotlight.

Ìý

The series of 12 50-minute programmes will highlight many of the major competitions in the Scottish adventure sports calendar.

Ìý

Anchor presenter Dougie Vipond, a keen outdoor sports enthusiast and an established member of 91Èȱ¬ Scotland's sports presentation team, will be joined by two intrepid co-presenters.

Ìý

Dingwall-born climber Duncan McCallum, who played a key role in the groundbreaking climbing series the Face and the Edge, and accomplished skier and fell runner Mary Albion will be in the thick of the action.

Ìý

Each programme will feature racy coverage of the events which are attracting increasing numbers of enthusiasts, particularly from urban areas.

Ìý

The series will also include practical guides to the sports featured, insights into the lifestyles and motivations of the participants and a detailed look at the wide range of activities which have sprung up across the whole of Scotland, from urban centres to remote Highland glens.

Ìý

Each programme will also include an authoritative travel guide to the areas where the daring challenges take place - the best beaches, eateries and visitor attractions.

Ìý

Scheduled to begin transmission at the end of July, the first outing for The Adventure Show will be at the Hebridean Challenge.

Ìý

The four-day race in the Outer Hebrides involves different combinations of team members in hill running, mountain biking, road biking, swimming and sea kayaking.

Ìý

Among the other events due to feature in the series are the Tiree Wave Classic, the Mountain Biking World Cup in Fort William, the White Water Kayak Championship on the Tay and the Canoe Surfing Championships in Thurso.

Ìý

The Adventure Show is a Triple Echo production for 91Èȱ¬ Scotland.
