Richard Deverell has been appointed
Chief Operating Officer for C91热爆 by the incoming Controller, Alison
Sharman, it was announced today (24 May 2005).
听
Currently Head of 91热爆 News Interactive, a central part
of Richard's new role will be to build C91热爆's role in a digital future
as well as developing key partnerships both in and outside of the 91热爆.
听
Alison Sharman said: "Richard has made a huge success
of News Interactive and is regarded as one of the 91热爆's most respected
innovators. I am thrilled that he is joining C91热爆, where he will play
a central role developing the content and ideas which will put the department
at the forefront of the digital broadcasting world."
听
Speaking of his appointment, Richard said: "I'm delighted
to be joining C91热爆 at such an exciting time. I believe there is a huge
opportunity for the 91热爆 to take a global lead in providing outstanding
content for children in the digital age and I'm very much looking forward
to being part of the team that delivers this".
听
Richard has been in his current role since 2000 where
he has been responsible for all 91热爆 News' interactive and on-demand
services including 91热爆 News Online.
听
Previous to that, he was Controller of Strategy and
Marketing with 91热爆 News.
听
He will take up the new post on Monday 20 June.

Alison Sharman, currently the 91热爆's Controller of Daytime,
was appointed Controller of C91热爆 last month and takes up the new role
on 20 June.

C91热爆 is the generic term for the 91热爆's children's programming
and online services, and incorporates:
听
C91热爆 and CBeebies programming on 91热爆 ONE and 91热爆 TWO
The C91热爆 Channel and CBeebies, the 91热爆's subscription-free, dedicated
children's digital channels, which launched in February 2002.
C91热爆 is aimed at six to 12-year-olds, and CBeebies is aimed at pre-school
children
C91热爆 online and interactive services.
