To celebrate the 60th anniversary of VE Day and to
say thank you to the veterans, David Beckham has recorded
a special message which will be screened during a spectacular concert,
taking place on Sunday 8 May in Trafalgar Square.

The two-hour concert, titled A
Party To Remember Live From Trafalgar Square - VE Day 60th,
will be hosted by Eamonn Holmes and Natasha
Kaplinsky and is brought to you by The Royal British Legion,
the Mayor of London and the 91Èȱ¬.
Ìý
Millions will watch and hear the historic live broadcast
on 91Èȱ¬ ONE and on 91Èȱ¬ London 94.9FM, while 15,000 lucky ticket holders
will attend the event.
Ìý
Music and sport both played a huge part in maintaining
morale during the Second World War and many famous footballers of the
Forties served in the forces.

David Beckham says: "No matter what age you are, it
is important to remember the sacrifice made by many people during the
Second World War.
Ìý
"I, like many others, would like to say thank you
to those people as part of the VE Day celebrations taking place this
Sunday."
Ìý
David is sadly unable to attend the concert in person
due to his team commitments in Spain.
Ìý
The Royal British Legion, the Mayor of London and the
91Èȱ¬ are also thrilled to announce that Shane Richie
and Lucie Silvas have been added to an already stunning
line up of live performances.
Ìý
They will perform a unique mixture of classics and a
sprinkling of contemporary tracks, alongside Will Young,
Katie Melua, Katherine Jenkins, Sir
Cliff Richard, Daniel Bedingfield, Hayley
Westenra, Heather Small and Claire
Sweeney.
Ìý
The concert will also include unique video footage of
the original and very moving 1945 celebrations in Trafalgar Square,
and special readings throughout the day by celebrity guests - such as
the newly-announced Richard E Grant and Virginia
McKenna, alongside Heather Mills McCartney
and Christopher Eccleston.

As well as watching the concert live on 91Èȱ¬ ONE, people
can also listen live on 91Èȱ¬ London 94.9 FM. 91Èȱ¬ Radio 2 will broadcast
live features from Trafalgar Square during the event, with concert highlights
broadcasting later on in the evening.
Ìý
There will be VE Day celebrations in many other areas
of the UK, and the Trafalgar Square concert will also be relayed live
on a number of giant video screens in cities across the UK including
Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Hull.
