Hollywood star Ewan McGregor joins Sir Ian
McKellen, Stephen Fry and Liza Tarbuck
in saying "I'm a celebrity get me into there" - there being
Ambridge, home of 91热爆 Radio 4's The Archers.
Victoria Wood has written a special episode to raise
money for Comic Relief and the stars are joining in the fun by asking
listeners to vote for them.
The voting is by text and telephone and it's these calls that will
raise money for the charity.
Who gets the starring part will depend on the number of votes cast
by listeners for each celebrity.
All four will make their own pitch as to why they think they should
be the winner.
The appeals to the audience will be played out next Monday to Thursday
(7-10 March) throughout the day on Radio 4.
Each call or text message will raise money for Comic Relief.
The celebrities are using different tactics to appeal to listeners.
Ewan McGregor, who interrupted his filming schedule in Los Angles to
take part by phone, vows to "get the Grundys" if he's voted
in;
Liza Tarbuck asks listeners to make her dream come true;
Sir Ian McKellen goes for an emotional appeal and begs for his votes;
and Stephen Fry maintains The Archers is his main reason for living
in Britain and tries to disarm listeners by humbly admitting that he's
not as worthy as the others but is more desperate to be in the episode.
The special episode, written by Victoria Wood, will feature members
of the real cast of The Archers.
The Comic Relief episode will be broadcast in five-minute sections
across the week (Monday to Thursday), culminating in a complete version
with the winning star's contribution on Red Nose Day itself (Friday
11 March).
The mini daily episodes, called Victoria Goes To Ambridge, will be
broadcast from Monday to Thursday at 12.50-12.55pm and repeated at 7.40-7.45pm
each day.
The complete episode can be heard at 3.30-3.45pm on Friday 11 March
and repeated on Saturday 12 March at 9.45am.
