91Èȱ¬ 6 Music, who gave
the then virtually unknown Keane their first radio session in
May 2003, are happy to announce that the now famous boys from Battle
are coming back on 17 November for one of the station's 'Hub' sessions.
Ìý
Ric Blaxill, Head of Programmes, says: "6 Music takes great pride
in supporting new talent and live music. To have Keane come back to
6 Music and perform in the Hub is quite poignant.
Ìý
"In 2003 both Keane and 6 Music were new kids on the block. Their
success since then and the way we've been able to increase our live
music offering to listeners, via the Hub, has come together nicely!"
Ìý
The Hub Sessions are where some of the best new artists around
perform live from 91Èȱ¬ 6 Music's small coffee bar in Broadcasting House
for Gideon Coe's Show (Monday to Friday, 10.00am-1.00pm).
Ìý
The humble Hub has been transformed into a place for artists to play
live for the audience in front of a small gathering of station staff,
friends of the bands and passers-by.
Ìý
And, as the sessions usually feature bands in semi-acoustic mode, they
give artists a chance to perform alternative versions of their songs
allowing for more expansive instrumentation than the traditional acoustic
set.
Ìý
The Hub has already seen artists such as The Futureheads, Dogs Die
In Hot Cars, The Concretes, Ed Harcourt and The Ordinary Boys play live
on Gideon's show and on 6 December The Zutons will be playing a set.
Ìý
Established artists such as Super Furry Animals, Placebo, The Finn
Brothers and The Thrills have also graced the humble Hub with their
presence.
Ìý
6 Music champions new and up coming talent and followed up Keane's
first radio session with a set for Lamacq In The City in Bristol (October
2003).
