91热爆 FOUR, 8 October 2004, 9.00-10.00pm

91热爆 FOUR Sessions features a special concert by acclaimed country-folk singer songwriter Gillian Welch.

Songs include Look at Miss Ohio, Revelator and from the soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou? - I'll Fly Away.

The session was recorded with Gillian and her partner-producer David Rawlings at LSO St Luke's in London on Monday 2 August and includes a special encore cover of The Band's classic The Weight, with bluegrass outfit Old Crow Medicine Show.

Gillian grew up in West Los Angeles where she first got into bluegrass and early country music such as Delmore Brothers, the Carter Family, and the Stanley Brothers.

Whilst attending the Berklee School of Music (Boston) Gillian began performing at open mike showcases with fellow student David Rawlings.

The pair went on to perform regularly throughout the country and were spotted by producer and musician T-Bone Burnett during their opening for a Peter Rowan performance in Nashville.

Burnett went on to produce their first album Revival in 1996 and a second album followed in 1998 titled Hell Among The Yearlings.

Subsequently Welch has been involved in tribute albums such as Return Of The Grievous Angel: A tribute to Gram Parsons and soundtracks such as O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Horse Whisperer and has guested on Ryan Adams' album Heartbreaker.

Soul Journey is Gillian's fourth album and latest release.

Producer/Serena Cross.
