Award-winning
journalist is named as new editor of 91热爆 Radio York
An
award-winning journalist has been named as the new managing editor
of 91热爆 Radio York.
Matt
Youdale, 43, has been acting editor since November 2002 and
takes over the post from Barrie Stephenson who is now running the
91热爆's digital storytelling project.
Mr
Youdale said: "I am delighted to be working in such a beautiful
part of the world, and with such a talented group of people.
"This
is an exciting time to be at 91热爆 Radio York, as the station is 21
years old this year and we are planning some special celebrations."
Married
with two children, Mr Youdale was educated in Kent and at the University
of Durham.
He
began his journalistic career at the Morning Telegraph in Sheffield
covering the miners' strike before moving onto the Yorkshire Post
where, as their Sheffield district reporter, his assignments included
reporting the Hillsborough disaster and inquiry.
He
joined the 91热爆 at Radio Derby in 1989, before becoming regional
health correspondent for the East Midlands - a post he held for
seven years.
He
was then acting managing editor of both 91热爆 Radio Nottingham and
91热爆 Radio Leicester before arriving in York.
Colin
Philpott, head of the 91热爆 in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, said: "Matt
is a very experienced journalist and programme maker and I am delighted
that he will be continuing to look after the 91热爆's operations in
North Yorkshire."
Matt
enjoys watercolour painting, gardening, birdwatching, sport and
keeping fit.
