1Xtra announces 100% 91热爆grown Live Sessions 2004

From 18 January 2004, Ras Kwame will host a monthly live showcase on his 1Xtra show 100% 91热爆grown.

Broadcasting live from the 91热爆's world famous Maida Vale studios, the show will turn the spotlight on the best in new and established talent that the UK urban music arena has to offer.

The 100% 91热爆grown show, broadcast on Sundays from 6.00 to 9.00pm, has a highly-acclaimed music policy of playing only UK talent and talking to key industry figures.

There has been a wide spectrum of artists supported, from fully established acts such as Lemar, to those still trying to get their demo heard - three new tracks from unsigned talent are aired weekly in the regular 91热爆grown Cuts slot.

In 2003, 100% 91热爆grown brought Terri Walker to Maida Vale for her first live radio performance with a full band.

In addition, 1Xtra hosts the annual 91热爆grown Weekend dedicating more than 50 hours to non-stop pure UK music.

Highlights this year included live performances from Terra Firma featuring Klashnekoff, Ty, Dynamite MC, So Solid, Donae'o, plus Blackout and F.Y.A.

In 2004, each of the 100% 91热爆grown Live Sessions will feature three live performances from new talent and established acts, plus artists passing through with exclusive new material, guest interviews and spontaneous collaborations.

The first show on 18 January features live sets from Cassius Henry, Kila Kela and Boyz In Da Hood with Sticky dropping by for a chat and playing some hot new dubplates.

The 100% 91热爆grown Live Sessions 2004 will be broadcast monthly from Maida Vale, and selected venues across the UK, from March.

Audience is strictly by invitation only, listen to 1Xtra for further details.

Ras Kwame says: "It's been a fantastic year for homegrown talent in 2003, with the likes of Dizzee Rascal now in the mainstream, we find that the major labels are beginning to take an interest in UK acts once more.

"I hope to continue to big up the UK scene even more in 2004, a particular highlight being the return of the 1Xtra 91热爆grown Live Sessions to 91热爆 Maida Vale and other hotspots around the country.

"Roll on 2004!"
