World Service announces new appointment
Anne
Koch has been appointed Acting Senior Commissioning Editor, News
and Current Affairs at 91热爆 World Service.
She
will be responsible for commissioning Newshour, The World Today
and other flagship programmes in English on 91热爆 World Service.
Phil
Harding, Director of the English Network and News at the World Service,
said: "I am delighted that someone of such experience, editorial
judgement and flair is joining the World Service team at such a
crucial time for world events.
"Audiences
across the globe are turning to the 91热爆 in increasing numbers for
its wide-ranging, authoritative and impartial news.
"Under
Anne's leadership, that service will continue to be in good hands."
Anne was born in Canada and has lived in England for the past 25
years.
She
joined the 91热爆 in 1987 after working as a journalist in Canada and
then with CBC's London Bureau.
Anne
became Editor of The World Tonight on 91热爆 Radio 4 in 1992 and, later,
Executive Editor, Radio 4 Daily Current Affairs.
She
also spent more than a year at 91热爆 World Service as head of Weekly
Current Affairs.
She
has worked on numerous documentary and special programmes both for
Radio 4 and 91热爆 World Service.
The
most recent was the international co-production with radio stations
across the United States on the first anniversary of the 9/11 attack.
Anne,
who has three degrees, is married with children.
She
will take up her new role at 91热爆 World Service shortly.
She
takes over John Renner's role whilst he oversees plans for the World
Service's move to broadcasting House in 2007.
