The
Man From U.N.C.L.E. star, Robert Vaughn, joins the cast of new 91热爆
ONE drama series, Hustle
Veteran
film and TV actor, Robert Vaughn, has joined the cast of
exciting new 91热爆 ONE drama series, Hustle, produced by Kudos
Film and Television, the successful production team behind Spooks.
Hustle
is an action-packed blend of humour and intrigue, which follows
the fortunes of a group of expert con artists let loose on the streets
of London.
Their
first rule of law is: "You can't con an honest man."
Vaughn
plays Albert Stroller - the roper - the best in the business at
identifying the "mark", sucking them in and introducing
them to the group.
He
is best remembered for his alter ego, Napoleon Solo, from the 1960s
worldwide hit TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., who was recently
voted No. 71 in the 100 Greatest TV Characters of all time (Channel
4).
After
the recent death of Hollywood legend, Charles Bronson, Vaughn is
now the only surviving member of the illustrious group - The Magnificent
Seven.
Robert
Vaughn said today: "I've been sent many scripts over the years,
and Hustle was the best writing of any I've received in ten years,
and for me, the writing is always the most important aspect.
"Hustle
is so unique and unusual and hasn't been done before on the small
screen, so I'm more than delighted to be involved."
Jane
Featherstone, Kudos' Head of Drama, says: "We are absolutely
thrilled to have Robert as part of the cast - his extraordinary
presence and charisma make him perfect to play the lovable, wise
and sometimes mischievous Albert Stroller.
"It
will be a wonderful treat for the audience to see one of their very
favourite movie and TV actors in a British series."
Hustle
also stars Adrian Lester (Storm Damage) as Mickey, master of the
dying art of the "long con" and godfather of the gang.
Marc
Warren (State Of Play) plays Danny, young and hungry, who is determined
to prove he's got what it takes to mastermind a scam and become
part of the team.
Robert
Glenister (Murder) is Ash, a seasoned con artist, expert at finding
a way into a "target", and newcomer Jaime Murray completes
the team as the beautiful, street-sharp Stacie.
Inspired
by an idea from Bharat Nalluri (Spooks), Hustle is written by Tony
Jordan (Chief Storyline Consultant, EastEnders).
Matthew
Graham (Spooks, Gentleman Thief) and Ashley Pharoah (Down to Earth,
Paradise Heights) complete the writing team, and have also penned
episodes of EastEnders alongside Tony Jordan.
The
series will be directed by Bharat Nalluri, produced by Simon Crawford
Collins and executive produced by Jane Featherstone (Touching Evil)
and Gareth Neame, 91热爆 Head of Drama Commissioning - replicating
the successful team that brought Spooks to the 91热爆.
Hustle
is currently filming in and around London and will continue until
November 2003.
