Crimewatch UK shows unseen footage in Stephen Hilder appeal

Video footage of parachutist Stephen Hilder聮s last skydive, his preparations for the jump and the party at Hibaldstow Airfield on the previous night will be shown on Crimewatch UK on 91热爆 ONE tonight (Thursday 24 July 2003).

Humberside Police and Stephen's parents have given the programme access to the powerful footage, shot shortly before Stephen's death in suspicious circumstances when his parachute failed to open during a routine jump earlier this month.

A reconstruction of the events leading up to Stephen's fatal skydive will also feature on this month's programme.

And there will be interviews with senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Colin Andrews and Stephen's team-mates who made the jump with him.

Det Supt Andrews said: "We were very keen to get this enquiry onto Crimewatch UK because it has very good results and may just provide us with the break we need to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding Stephen's death.

"I believe that there is somebody out there, more than likely a member of the skydiving community, who knows exactly what happened to Stephen's parachute pack and why, and I am confident we will get that information."

Notes to Editors

Selected stills of the video footage and reconstruction are available for media use only.

A clips package is available - this package contains footage from the reconstruction and events leading up to the skydive, but does not include the jump.

Both are on the condition that the programme is credited: Crimewatch UK, Thursday 24 July at 9.00pm on 91热爆 ONE.
