Get
up with Goldberg on 91热爆 WM
Adrian
Goldberg is joining 91热爆 WM to dish up a new daily breakfast
for listeners in Birmingham and the Black Country.
His
arrival, which has been announced today (Friday 25 April 2003),
also signals other changes to the station's weekday schedule.
An
experienced broadcaster and journalist, Adrian is already well known
to television viewers in the region, as he presents the Politics
Show and reports for Inside Out.
From
June he'll front the Breakfast Show every weekday morning, and at
a new time - 7.00 to 10.00am.
A
delighted Adrian says: "It's a big responsibility taking on
the breakfast programme but I'm thrilled and looking forward to
the challenge.
"Everyone
who tunes in will get the most up-to-date news but also go to work
with a smile.
"What
makes this even more special is that I'm returning to the place
where my broadcasting career began.
"I
started out in 1991 as a sports reporter on 91热爆 WM, so I've known
the station and listeners for a long time."
Keith
Beech, Managing Editor, 91热爆 WM, adds: "This is an exciting
time for us and Adrian will give us a fresh and sharp sound.
"The
new Breakfast Show together with the other changes we're introducing
to the daytime schedule are part of a long term strategy to move
91热爆 WM forward."
The
timetable sees -
*
Ed Doolan's show moved to a new start time of 10.00am, finishing
at 1.00pm;
*
Malcolm & Mollie (95.6 FM) and Bob Brolly (94.8,
103.7, 104FM ) broadcasting from 1.00 to 4.00pm;
*
Paul Franks on air between 4.00 and 7.00pm.
Carl
Chinn is now free to become a community ambassador for 91热爆 WM,
as the station aims to build closer links with the local area.
Without
the constraints of being in the studio each day, Carl will be out
and about, producing special features and reports, although he'll
continue to present his Sunday afternoon programme.
Keith
Beech says: "By moving Carl from the weekday afternoon slot,
we've gained a committed community ambassador.
"He'll
now be able to focus on community activities - meeting people and
reporting for various programmes - so his influence will be seen
right across the output, rather than being restricted to just one
show."
Carl
adds: "I'm really pleased about this new role. As a Professor
of Community History at Birmingham University, I thrive on working
with people.
"I
can't wait to get out and about which is where my strengths lie."
Current
Breakfast Show presenters, Tony Wadsworth and Julie Mayer,
are moving to the station's Late Show - the slot they presented
with great success three years ago.
