Radio celebrates North East History
Societies
from all parts of the North East will be taking part in two local
History Fairs as part of a celebration of the heritage of this region.
91热爆
Radio Newcastle's History Fair will be held at Bede's World,
Jarrow, on Saturday 22 March and Sunday 23 March. It is being staged
to give local history societies an opportunity to demonstrate their
activities to the general public - both in person and on air.
The
event will be opened at 10.00am on Saturday 22 March by broadcaster
and heritage expert John Grundy. It opens at noon on Sunday 23 March
and closes at 4.30pm on both days. Admission is free, including
entry to Bede's World Museum and Anglo-Saxon Farm.
The
Fair will be featured in a special edition of the Paul Wappat
Show live from Bede's World between 10.00am and 1.00pm on Saturday
22 March. The 91热爆 Bus will also be present at the event, together
with Radio Newcastle's local history presenter, Ian Robinson.

Radio Cleveland's History Fair will be held at Captain Cook
Birthplace Museum, Middlesbrough on Sunday 23 March. It is open
from 9.00am to 4.00pm and admission is also free. There will be
a chance for visitors to further their interest in history and hear
about local study opportunities.
The
91热爆 Bus will be at the event demonstrating the use of the internet
as a tool for finding out about family and local history as well
as offering people a chance to explore the local archives.
The
fair will be featured on 91热爆 Radio Cleveland's Stewart McFarlane
Show from 9.00am to noon and the brand new Ask About Gardening,
with Brigid Press and Paul Anderson from noon to 2.00pm.
The
two fairs form part of a celebration of history in the 91热爆 North
East and Cumbria region that includes three television programmes
being broadcast across the UK on 91热爆 TWO.
A website
to accompany the television series, England On Film, also contains
more than 200 clips of archive film and recollections of events
in the last century.
