THREE Controller Stuart Murphy has commissioned six further editions
of the digital channel's current affairs strand, The Third Degree.
A wide-ranging
series of programmes will investigate a number of hard hitting issues,
including the migration of crack cocaine from the ghettos to its
new found status as the current fix of the middle classes, and an
examination of the renewed threat presented by weapons of mass destruction.
Other
programmes in the run include The Most Powerful Couple In Britain
- a profile of the turbulent relationship between the Prime Minister
and his other half, Chancellor Gordon Brown, and From Russia With
Love, a report on Russia's Aids epidemic and its implications for
the rest of Europe.
The
strand will also explore the dilemmas that face first-time buyers
in attempting to get a foot on the property ladder, and the plight
of hundreds of British Asian men who are forced into marriages against
their will.
Stuart
Murphy said: "The Third Degree has contributed significantly
to the success of 91热爆 THREE to date.
"These
new commissions will ensure that quality journalism plays its part
a the heart of the channel's schedule."
Colin
Savage, Editor, Current Affairs, 91热爆 THREE added: "The first
run of The Third Degree showed we are not afraid to tackle big issues
head on and our audience really appreciated this.
"This
new run of programmes will see The Third Degree build on that success
by plugging right into our viewers' interests and developing into
an integral part of 91热爆 Current Affairs."
