"Searchin',
lookin' for love, I've gotta find me a..... "
(Hazel Dean)
Introducing
Single Scotland, a brand new series for 91Èȱ¬ ONE
Scotland which has its first date on Monday 10 February at 10.35pm
to get you in the mood for Valentine's day.
A six-part
factual entertainment documentary, Single Scotland, follows the
dating progress of eight men and women from all over the nation.
As Dusty said, they're all after "the look of love" and
prepared to try anything to find it!
From
dating agencies to websites, from personal ads to singles clubs,
these singletons invite viewers into their personal lives to witness
the trials and tribulations of finding that perfect partner.
Who
will succeed and who will continue on the quest for their other
half? All will be revealed over the show's six week run.
The
dates range from a shagtag club (everyone gets a number on arrival
and if you're attracted to somebody, you jot down their number and
leave a message for them on a board)
to salsa classes, a night at the Grand Old Opry to jigging at a
ceilidh, and geographically incorporating Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen
and Stirling.
The
girls:
•
Carly, 22, who is originally from the Isle of Arran, and is studying
in her final year at Edinburgh School of Art. She's been single
for six months and is on the look-out for a serious boyfriend.
•
Jonelle, 27, from Edinburgh is a nursery nurse. She's been single
for six months and is after husband material.
•
Barbara, 39, is a recruitment consultant who lives in Edinburgh.
She's been a singleton for a year and would like a ring on her finger.
•
Karen is 37 and works part-time as a Glasgow tour operator. She's
been on her own for five years and just wants a date!
The
boys:
•
Stephen is 26 and comes from Paisley. He's a call centre team manager
and has been without a lady for a year. He'd like to be walking
down the aisle.
•
Davie is a 40-year-old father of three farm-worker from Inverbervie
in Aberdeenshire. He's been divorced for three years, but had occasional
dates. He's looking for someone to share his and his kids' lives.
•
Jamie is 22 and a student in his final year at Stirling University.
Single for six months, all his previous relationships have been
abroad, so now he's keen to meet a good Scots lass.
•
David is a 46-year-old Glaswegian managing a hair and beauty salon
in the city's West End. He's had no serious relationship for five
years, and he's after not one, but possibly two boyfriends.
The
first programme follows Carly, Stephen and Jonelle. Carly attends
a live music gig in Edinburgh and having no luck, gets taken by
her pals to a shagtag venue, where she secures a date.
Stephen
tries calling some personal ads before meeting Lyndsay in a Glasgow
club. Jonelle takes the plunge and joins an introduction agency.
So,
if your chat up lines include the following pick-ups . . .
"The
human body is 90% water and I'm really thirsty."
"Do
you have any raisins? No? How about a date?"
"Is
that a ladder in your stocking or the stairway to heaven?"
.
. . then you definitely need to watch Single Scotland from an education
perspective and steal some tips to improve your technique.
Also
if you've been tempted to try ads, agencies and clubs but don't
know where to start, then Single Scotland offers a revealing insight
into the pitfalls to avoid.
Or
maybe you're happily ensconced in a warm and loving relationship?
Then come and simply be a smug voyeur, and remember the good/bad
(delete accordingly) old days.
Single Scotland
is produced by Paul Stevenson for 91Èȱ¬ ONE Scotland.
